5、 Common nonconformance points in gas cylinder production
— Manufacturing celebrities of cylinders:
a/Lamination:Layering of the material within the cylinder wall and sometimes appearing as a discontinuity, crack lap or bulge at the surface (see Figure A.5)
⎯ Inside imperfection: all cylinders with such imperfection
⎯ Outside imperfection: all cylinders with such an imperfection
6、The influence of sulfur
Sulfur is a harmful impurity that has a negative effect on the weldability and plasticity of steel. Sulfur exists in the form of iron sulfide (FeS) or manganese sulfide (MnS). Iron sulfide and iron can form eutectic with low melting point (melting point is 985℃), which is lower than the hot working temperature of steel, resulting in cracking during hot working.
In the process of hot processing, manganese sulfide elongates along the rolling direction to form the so-called fiber structure, which makes the samples cut parallel to the fiber structure direction and perpendicular to the fiber direction show a great difference in mechanical properties.
The fiber structure also affects the banded structure of rolled steel.
Similarly, the hot crack of weld in the melting zone is mainly related to the content of sulfur in the weld metal.
